- The cool factor- Solar panels absorb heat, so they are not hot to the touch, like diesel generators. So, our solar generators do not contribute to the "heat island effect" – where urban areas actually cause weather fluctuation through the heat created by equipment, machines and reflection of heat by streets, rooftops and parking lots. And, of course, the "cool factor" of using solar energy always draws an admiring crowd.
