The Urban Times: DiCaprio tells how Inception went Solar

Really nice article summarizing the news of the Mobile Solar Power System providing solar power to the base camp of Inception in The Urban Times – in part: “Christopher Nolan’s Summer 2010 Blockbuster smash “Inception, featuring superstar studmuffin Leo DiCaprio,  shined on more fronts that just the Box Office (so far there has been a worldwide gross over over $240 Million).  I loved the film – it was magnificent, profound and intelligent – but today I focus not on the celluloid but on the mechanism behind it.

Particularly the environmentally friendly mechanism. The film’s sets were powered by the world’s largest mobile solar power system, the S48T. This system was constructed by Pure Power Distribution is is the first of its kind capable of powering a movie base camp solely on the sun’s blessed rays….”

(Important note: the blockbuster film was shot in about 7 different countries and Pure Power provided solar power when the production was in LA – most including this writer seem to share the opinion that, while it would be wonderful if an entire production could be powered with solar – the technology is not quite there yet, and Pure Power is providing ‘a great start’.)
