Mar 11, 2011 – A bright red streetcar wends its way through downtown San Diego, and that’s not the only sign of environmental efficiency in this California city of just over 1 million. At a March 9th Executive Roundtable Discussion at the San Diego Daily Transcript, leaders at all levels of municipal, tribal, defense organizations and private companies discussed their intense focus on keeping the environment in the forefront all of decisions. What they’re finding is that these “green” decisions always yield financial, organizational and community results.

For Christopher Smith, of Pure Power Distribution (www.PurePowerD.com), the “Triple Bottom Line” is a foundation of the company, so these results are quite obvious.

Infrastructure breakdowns, telecommunications disruptions, emergency medical stations are just some of the results of an emergency, and all require electrical power to function properly.

Goes without saying that large scale power grids are often taken out immediately, and that emergency power must be portable, rugged, and if truly capable, must be completely self-sufficient. Now, a diesel generator may fit the bill on the first two requirements, but when the fuel runs out, and more can’t be procured, it becomes just another derelict vehicle.

When emergency first-responders or even military units are called out to assist with massive disasters, mobile solar generators can become a primary tool providing renewable electricity that is stored in onboard batteries and available well into the night.

A Mobile Solar Power System, on the other hand, will be replenished by the sun each day, and if used properly, can be utilized for days or weeks at a time. (Warning: sales pitch coming:) Pure Power has such Systems available, and inquiries for such emergency power should be directed to info@PurePowerD.com.

An affirming article in the NY Times today “U.S. Military Orders Less Dependence on Fossil Fuels” is right up our alley. Just last month Pure Power delivered its military-grade Mobile Solar Microgrid, which has a wide variety of uses by all services, for all of their off-grid power needs.

The big deal, besides saving fuel, and reducing the toxic emissions and carbon dioxide from diesel fuel – - the really big deal here is SAVING LIVES.

From the article: “…In Iraq and Afghanistan, one Army study found, for every 24 fuel convoys that set out, one soldier or civilian engaged in fuel transport was killed. In the past three months, six Marines have been wounded guarding fuel runs in Afghanistan. ”

Put another way, reducing the need for fuel convoys will save American lives.

Another issue that Pure Power has been espousing for quite some time is the cost of fuel. “Fossil fuel accounts for 30 to 80 percent of the load in convoys into Afghanistan, bringing costs as well as risk. While the military buys gas for just over $1 a gallon, getting that gallon to some forward operating bases costs $400. ”

Check out this important article here, and ask Pure Power about the military-grade Mobile Solar Microgrid, as well as our commercial Mobile Solar Power Systems.

“Making our country more energy efficient is not some green feel-good thing. Retired Brig. Gen. Steve Anderson, who was Gen. David Petraeus’s senior logistician in Iraq, e-mailed to say that “over 1,000 Americans have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan hauling fuel to air-condition tents and buildings. If our military would simply insulate their structures, it would save billions of dollars and, more importantly, save lives of truck drivers and escorts. … And will take lots of big fuel trucks (a k a Taliban Targets) off the road, expediting the end of the conflict.”

Pure Power has just completed providing solar power on our FIFTH FEATURE FILM for a major Hollywood studio, and before we start on number 5 and beyond, we’d like to review our favorite feature films that have used renewable energy as part of the power mix. Today’s Pure Power Solar Film pick is JONAH HEX.

Based on the DC Comics classic, starring Josh Brolin as Johan Hex, “a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort who can track anyone… and anything.” Highly stylized with lots of fast-action, this film also featured Megan Fox, John Malkovich and Michael Fassbender.

Pure Power’s role with this film was to provide a portion of the base camp’s power requirements. We developed an advanced Mobile Solar Power System (for its time), the S10, built a pair and delivered them to New Orleans. It was the second time, to our knowledge, that Mobile Solar Power had be brought to a feature film set.

Coming soon: Pure Power’s first feature film project.

In a featured article in the LA Times by Tiffany Hsu, Christopher Smith of Pure Power was quoted as saying “In this (economic) environment, you have to be very, very prudent.”

Smith’s response to “how does Pure Power choose between the plethora of green trade shows?” demonstrates the company’s strategic approach to managing the interest in Pure Power’s “industrial strength” Mobile Solar Power Systems(TM), and its expertise.

“Demand for Mobile Solar Power Systems is taking off like a rocket,” said Norris Lozano, Pure Power’s CEO. “People are becoming aware that our Systems have been tested and improved on the front-lines in major industries that seek an alternative to portable diesel generators. We are taking a strategic approach to that demand, while retaining our lead in technology and design.”

Speaking of trade shows, Pure Power and Preferred Pump introduced their new relationship at the World Ag Expo last week, the world’s largest annual agrictural expo. Preferred Pump reports “twice as many visitors as last year” to the booth – indicating that Agriculture is more than ready for a durable, tested Mobile Solar pumping solution.

Taking the long view, Pure Power is working closely with clients to develop and refine Systems to meet the specific needs of Entertainment, Construction, and Emergency Power.

“Whether or not we attend more industry expos this year, we intend to provide Mobile Solar Power Systems for a long time,” says Smith.
