Pure Power

Just today, Smashbox Studios posted an interview with the show’s director, Howard Griffith, ontheir uber-cool culture blog Yello! .

The non-nonsense producer talked about using a Mobile Solar Power System on Criminal Minds, saying “I’m very excited about this technology,” and “We want to get more green power.”

After reading Griffith’s enthusiastic quotes, Pure Power CEO Norris Lozano said, “We can make that happen!”

“The Lowdown on Mobile Photovoltaic Power Generators” appearing today in GreenSource discusses portable solar power as an alternative to diesel generators, and features a photo of our Hybrid S10 model, along with some discussion of Pure Power Distribution and our Mobile Solar Power Systems(TM). 

The Hybrid S10 (pictured) is the only Mobile Solar Power System (and the only portable solar unit we’re aware of) that has an onboard Tier 4 biodiesel generator as a standard feature. Since the article was about mobile solar-only power, we can understand how Hybrid systems are another level altogether – perhaps they merit a second article. 

The benefits of our Hybrid S10 are subtle but significant:

•  Pure Power: As power needs ramp up on a job site, some solar systems are simply not able to keep up. A contractor has to work closely with a knowledgeable solar provider to understand not only output rates, but recharge rates.
• Stamina: The Hybrid S10 has deep cycle batteries rated at 1,020 Amp hours (6 hour rate – a different calculation than the 20-hour rate shown in the article) to accommodate heavy use, potential weather situations, AND nighttime use.
• Rugged Construction: Mobile Solar Power Systems are uniquely and specifically designed to function as mobile power sources, and an alternative to diesel generators. They are ruggedly built specifically to work on construction sites and other unfinished terrain.
• Battery-extending onboard generators: Solar-only equipment is just the right solution for many jobs. Certain jobs, however, require the ability to power the site longer, or into the evening, or day-after-day. What’s different about our Hybrid S10 is: as our batteries are used, our charge controller automatically switches on the generator to charge the batteries – with no output loss to the construction site. The generator runs for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, using only approximately 1 gallon of diesel.
• Hybrid: Our Hybrid S10 provides power AND extended life to the construction site. Yes, it requires some use of diesel, but in a way that significantly avoids diesel fumes and carbon dioxide output, as compared to a diesel-only solution. Our Tier 4 generator, running B20, is 93% more environmentally efficient than a Tier 1 generator in terms of particulate matter (soot). Instead of the constant drone of a diesel engine, ours runs temporarily, then automatically shuts off.
• Construction workers like the quiet: it was unfortunate that the article didn’t spell out the benefit of silent operation of a Mobile Solar Power System. On sites we’ve provided power, this is the #1 compliment we receive, “thanks for making it quiet!”

Smith’s response to “how does Pure Power choose between the plethora of green trade shows?” demonstrates the company’s strategic approach to managing the interest in Pure Power’s “industrial strength” Mobile Solar Power Systems(TM), and its expertise.

“Demand for Mobile Solar Power Systems is taking off like a rocket,” said Norris Lozano, Pure Power’s CEO. “People are becoming aware that our Systems have been tested and improved on the front-lines in major industries that seek an alternative to portable diesel generators. We are taking a strategic approach to that demand, while retaining our lead in technology and design.”

Speaking of trade shows, Pure Power and Preferred Pump introduced their new relationship at the World Ag Expo last week, the world’s largest annual agrictural expo. Preferred Pump reports “twice as many visitors as last year” to the booth – indicating that Agriculture is more than ready for a durable, tested Mobile Solar pumping solution.

Taking the long view, Pure Power is working closely with clients to develop and refine Systems to meet the specific needs of Entertainment, Construction, and Emergency Power.

“Whether or not we attend more industry expos this year, we intend to provide Mobile Solar Power Systems for a long time,” says Smith.

So we were particularly proud last week to be hosted by Preferred Pump at the World Ag Expo in Tulare, California. This is the largest annual Agricultural expo in the world, with representatives from 72 countries at the show. Pure Power and Preferred Pump were a great combo for the hundreds of visitors to the booth, where we showed two types of Mobile Solar Power Systems(TM), the S48T and the Hybrid S10, taking turns powering a 10 hp pump.

The “48″ is the world’s largest Mobile Solar Power System, and has a 72,000 watt / 600 Amp capacity. The operator can move its panels to track the sun via electronic elevators – imagine moving banks of solar panels catching the sunlight -  a very cool “wave” that brought visitors every time we moved them.

Not exaggerating about the hundreds of visitors – with up to 10 Preferred Pump and Pure Power people fielding questions from 8 to 5 each day of the show, we easily spoke to over a hundred each day. 

Most common complaint: “I’m tired of paying that utility check every month, and it’s about to go up again.”

This relationship is off to a great start!

On the other hand, each day a Mobile Solar Base Camp Power System™ is used, another ton of CO2 is avoided. NOT generated. NOT released into an atmosphere that many say is already carrying an unsustainably high percentage of CO2.
