Toyota’s new plug-in Prius gets Pure PowerD

Monday, June 21st, 2010

We were proud to support IgnitedUSA last week in providing pure power to a fleet of 15 new plug-in Prius vehicles for Toyota.

The event, held under seasonably overcast Southern California skies (aka “June Gloom”) required each Hybrid S10 Mobile Solar Power Systems to recharge 5 Prius for fleet managers to view, assess and test-drive, over a period of 2 days.

Did we say Overcast? Not so fast: what seems to most to be overcast skies looks positively bright to a solar panel, and our Hybrid S10s calmly and quietly recharged the Prius (Priuses? Prii?) easy-as-you-please.

Pure Power sent a driver/operator skilled in both the navigational and power-providing arts to ensure that all the vehicles were properly charged and ready to go. Mission accomplished – and wouldn’t you agree, there’s something poetic about the vision of 15 Prius cars being charged with pure solar power?

Toyota, when you hold your next plug-in Prius rally, we are expecting a call for more pure power.

Dodge Ram and Pure Power

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

You may have seen the recent ad for Dodge Trucks touting the rugged features of the Dodge Ram, which is Motor Trend’s 2010 Truck of the Year. It’s a daring and explosively visual spot, perfectly matched by actor Sam Elliot’s gravelly voice over. If you like commercials that are done well, you’ll watch this one over and over – and when you do, you’ll see a Dodge Ram towing a Hybrid S10 Mobile Solar Power System through the Very Large Array, a massive system of 27 satellite dishes built to examine far away galaxies via capture and mapping of incoming radio waves. No doubt you’ve seen the VLA in countless movies about space and aliens. The appearance of the dishes, against the backdrop of the unforgiving desert, makes a high impact visual. Add a Dodge Ram and our mobile solar generator, and you’ve got a great shot.

Environmental Media Association Features Hybrid Base Camps in Newsletter

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Just received our latest issue of the EMA Spring 2010 Newsletter, and were pleased to see our Hybrid Solar Base Camp mentioned as providing clean power for a Warner Bros. production. EMA – The Environmental Media Association – mobilizes the entertainment industry in educating people about environmental issues, which in turn, inspires them to take action.

Pure Power readers will recall that we provided a Hybrid Mobile Solar Power System(TM) to the production of “Valentine’s Day” (Garry Marshall directed, with Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Shirley MacLaine among the host of mega-stars) . The Hybrid Base Camp consisted of Solar Generators – Hybrid S10 Mobile Solar Power Systems(TM) working alongside Solar Star Waggons(TM) – all working together to avoid a ton of carbon dioxide per day, as well as daily doses of the 40 other carcinogens found in diesel exhaust.

Right now, Pure Power is back at the movies, providing Warner Bros. with the world’s largest Mobile Solar Power System – our 600 Amp/72,000 watt S48 unit is currently powering the base camp of Steve Carell’s current feature production. Everyone working on the production likes that solar systems are silent, and produce no exhaust or smell. Just good clean power!

Steve Carell, the hilarious star of “The 40-Year Old Virgin” and “The Office” now has a new title: “really green comedic actor”. This is because the base camp of his new feature Warner Bros. film project is being solar-powered by the world’s largest Mobile Solar Power System™.

The really powerful solar generator – the S48T designed by Pure Power Distribution – was recently seen powering the base camp of the Leo DiCaprio (“really green serious actor”) starrer “Inception” – so you know this solar system has chops.

What does the world’s largest Mobile Solar Power System do all day? Well, it looks incredibly cool, with moveable solar panels that can track the sun, and then fold down for transport. But even in Hollywood, looking cool is not as important as being cool: the S48T produces 600 Amps of pure sine wave power with no noise, and no emissions – keeping about a ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere each day – along with the other 40 carcinogens found in diesel exhaust.

Studio Electricians Union 728 Get Solar Training from Pure Power

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Throughout the year, Studio Electricians Union 728 holds instructional demonstrations for members, so that professional Union electricians and lamp operators are up to speed with the latest technologies, regulations, and industry standards. This weekend, for the first time, the training featured a Mobile Solar Power System™.

Mobile Solar Power Systems  – portable solar generators – are used in the entertainment industry, construction, agriculture and emergency response industries as a clean, dependable power source for remote locations where “grid” power is unavailable. The solar units, designed and built by Pure Power Distribution (www.PurePowerD.com) provide between 50 and 600 Amps of pure sine wave power (4.5 to 72 kW) – with no noise, no fumes, and no exhaust.

Mark Garrett of Pure Power demonstrated a Hybrid S10 Mobile Solar Power System for the 15 men and women attending the session, and held a question/answer session afterward.

“The Hybrid” is well known in the entertainment industry already, as it’s currently working on the hit CBS show “Criminal Minds”. New Line Cinema used Hybrid S10’s cabled with Solar Star Waggons™ to power the base camp for “Valentine’s Day” (Diana Pokorney, Producer).

The Hybrid S10 features an onboard Tier 4 biodiesel generator that’s automatically switched on to recharge the System’s batteries – using a Tier 4 generator is about 93% more environmentally efficient in terms of exhaust/soot than a Tier 1 generator.

This is a strong vote of confidence by the entertainment industry and the Union that Mobile Solar Power Systems are a viable power source for productions seeking a green alternative to their mobile power needs.

Mobile Solar Power System used to power up LA Marathon

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

We know you’ve read about our great success at the LA Marathon – here’s what one editor is saying about using portable solar generators to power live events:

“Using solar energy sure pumps up the “heat factor” of performances by making them energy efficient and eco-friendly. Let’s hope that more concerts go eco-friendly and use renewable energy sources instead of burning up fuel.”

LA Marathon Hails Vets with Mobile Solar-Powered Stage

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

March 21, 2010 – More than 25,000 people witnessed 1940’s music powered by 21st century technology, as a Hybrid Mobile Solar Power System™ was used to power the US Veterans Administration’s entertainment stage at the VA Hospital in Westwood.

As the racers coursed through the Veteran’s Administration in Westwood at Mile 21, they were energized by a host of talented singers and dancers – whose instruments, mikes and amplifiers were powered by a clean, quiet portable solar generator.

The racers, families, war veterans and fans enjoyed the music, and weren’t bothered by the noise, exhaust and smell of diesel generators typically used for such live events.

It is believed to be the first mobile solar powered venue in the 25-year history of the LA Marathon.

“The US Veterans Administration does noble work and we are proud to be a part of their day,” said Norris Lozano, CEO of Pure Power. “We were thrilled to be surrounded by the talent on the stage, war heroes in the audience, and courageous athletes on the street. It was a great day!”

Pure Power Distribution (www.PurePowerD.com) used a “Hybrid S10” Mobile Solar Power System™ to power 7 high-energy acts throughout the 8-hour day. Sound checks started at 7am, but because of the intense Southern California sun and the Hybrid S10’s solar capture ability and deep cycle batteries, the Solar System actually ended the 8 hour work day with more energy in its batteries than when it started.

It was Pure Power’s first live stage show with The Show Pros/Laguna Creative (www.TheShowPros.com) – the first of many, if today’s success is any indication.
