Pure Power providing clean solar power at the Santa Monica Ice Rink

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Pure Power is proud to announce that we are providing clean solar power, via an S10 Mobile Solar Power System, to lights, food and skate rental vendor at the Santa Monica holiday ice rink.

This fantastic community rink, which is put up for about 4 months every year and served an estimated 65,000 skaters last year, always get challenges from the eco-community. They say “Ice in Santa Monica?” But to be fair to those who run this important and festive rink, (and you can get more details from them) they provide solar power (via a local company, no less – - excellent second bottom line attribute!) and any grid power that is used has a high renewable component to it. We will update this site as we get the full picture of their environmental efforts, which are impressive.

For example, check out how the tents were designed – this is outstanding!:

“Something beautiful is blossoming. Herbal Essences, known for its variety of luscious hair care and styling products, has teamed up with Portraits of Hope, a program that merges public art with creative art therapy for hospitalized children within local communities, to transform ICE at Santa Monica into an oasis of beauty and hope this winter season with a large scale exhibition under ice. The Portraits of Hope-designed art project, nurtured by Herbal Essences, will bloom into a luscious paradise of beautiful flowers encased in ice for people to enjoy from November through February at ICE at Santa Monica.

Pure Power at the Environmental Charter School fundraiser

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Since you’ve been reading and watching so diligently, we’re sure you saw the video about the Tour De Fat in Austin Texas last month – - the after party at night was powered using traditional grid power because a) it was night, b) the party was BIG and needed a lot of power.

But here’s good news – - Pure Power was a sponsor, along with Paramount Pictures, Blackwelder, Shangri LA Construction and other power players in the green space, of the star-studded fundraiser for the Environmental Charter School fundraising event at Blackwelder Studios last week on hybrid solar power.

We’re guessing a few hundred people attended in support of the school, which has operated for 10 years, and boasts – get this – over 95% of its students get into college.

Pure Power ran the step-and-repeat wall (massive lighting) with solar, and the main event with a Hybrid S10 System for about 8 hours straight – music, lights, events, microphones, projectors.

It was a terrific event for a terrific cause, and our good friend Nicole Landers deserves a lot of credit for making it a big success!

Pure Power at the Big Sur Half Marathon

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Got a call yesterday from our good friend Kevin Smith at the Big Sur Half Marathon. His Group throws the Big Sur Marathon in the Spring and the Half Marathon in November.

Before we go further, you have to look at this pictures – have you ever seen a more beautiful race setting?

Just last weekend, many hundreds of hale and hearty runners ran the annual Big Sur Half Marathon in Big Sur, along with a host of other fun races, and for the second year running (no pun intended) Cresco provided our clean Mobile Solar Power Systems for the event.

Crowed Kevin, “Your solar power systems are so quiet and clean and people just love that we’re using solar for this beautiful race. And they last and last – a great power source – - we’re looking forward to the Full Marathon in the spring!”

Gracias Smitty!

Eco-Leader Sustainable Waves on MSNBC

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Hey, Mobile Solar fans,  we were psyched to see our good friends Sustainable Waves getting their due on MSNBC with a targeted featurette about using solar power for entertainment events.

If you’re at all interested in the potential for solar to power outdoor events, please check out these important short videos here.

Pure Power for Prius (Part 2)

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Several months ago Pure Power was fortunate to be selected to power 15 new Plug-In Prius cars at a demonstration event for fleet managers. This past weekend Pure Power and Prius met again, this time at the “10 Years of Toyota Prius Anniversary Celebration” held at an estate in Malibu, California.

The catered event for about 200 people featured music by M. Ward, food by Outstanding in the Field, and the sponsorship of Wired Magazine, SHFT, Reverb and Eric Lloyd Wright.

As we have on a bushel of events over the past two years we were proud to have partnered with our good friends at Sustainable Waves. They’re simply the best in the business when it comes to sustainable power for events – check them out!

Great pictures of the event from Outstanding in the Field here

Solar California Baby Event (it’s not about solar, it’s about the kids, Part 2)

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

This afternoon, California Baby held its annual Family Festival, and if the smiles of the parents and kids were any indication, the even was a huge success.  Held at the California Baby facility on a bright sunny day, it had just the right mix of entertainment, food, and people to make it fun. It was easy to find the event because there was an S10 Mobile Solar Power System parked outside, mere feet from the music area.

Why is this important? Because similar to our previous post regarding the school event in Berkeley, the power for the music and PA was provided by our solar system. And unlike a diesel generator, a mobile solar generator is QUIET (sorry… quiet…). Also, it produces no fumes, no toxic diesel exhaust, no soot, no heat, and did we mention the noise?

It was also cool to be at California Baby because they’re all about children’s health. Check them out here:

We were psyched to partner with Ra Power & Light to get introduced to this event. Ra (Egyptian God of the Sun) is masterminding the huge solar array that California Baby is installing (the installation is just beginning – you can see the racks for the solar panels in the photos below).

Walking the talk (It’s not about solar, it’s about the kids)

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

Not long ago, we got a call from a gentleman at Black Pine Circle, a K-8 school in Berkeley CA.  He needed a portable power source for the school’s, ‘Back to school’ picnic for the kids and families, to be held in Tilden park (also in Berkeley).  Considering the distance from our facility in Southern Cal to Berkeley, Pure Power suggested that Black Pine Circle contact Cresco in Richmond. Cresco has been a trusted partner of ours for quite a while, with many happy customers in the Northern Cal area.

Now there’s another happy customer, because the Pure Power solar generator performed like a champ. And this despite the fact that “the weather was  foggy, the marine layer was low and inland that day.”

But really, this is not about the generator, it’s about the kids and the families. Look at these photos – if this were a diesel generator, would it be this close to the families? Um, no – they wouldn’t he able to hear each other, and they wouldn’t want the kids so close to a) a generator, b) diesel fumes, c) diesel smell, and d) I’ll say it again – THE NOISE.

Instead, the school had a lovely event, with a clean quiet power source.

Pure Power’s “Sexy” Opportunity Green presentation online

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

For those unlucky few who were not at the Opportunity Green event in Downtown Los Angeles last week, the Pure Power presentation (had to be very few slides, as the pitch was 1 minute 15 seconds) is here.

Now you’ll know why Mobile Solar Power is sexy…
