The Second Bottom Line: Community Service

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Much is made in the sustainability press and blogosphere about the environmental bottom line. In the Elkington taxonomy of financial, social and environmental benefits, the second bottom line often takes a back seat to the environmental. At minimum, second bottom line benefits are challenging to accurately quantify, and often point to issues that are not easily solved by a project, a product, or even a company.

At Pure Power, we strive to produce environmental results with our corporate work, but almost every member of the team contributes to the community in a meaningful way through non-profit work. Below is a short list of the non-profit organizations that PPD staff support, work with, and in some cases, lead:

  • Young Presidents Organization
  • Camp Max Strauss
  • World Affairs Council
  • Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors
  • Forest Stewardship Council
  • Doctor’s Global
  • Hayward Corporation
  • New Zealand Alpine Club
  • American Alpine Club
  • Digital Academy
  • California Waterfowl Association
  • Wings Medical Transportation Services
  • Rotary International
  • Danville, CA Concours d’Elegance
  • Environmental Media Association
  • Monte Vista Housing Association
  • ecoAmerica
