Many people have watched a Mobile Solar Power System at work and asked, “how long does it last?” Often what they mean is “what happens when the sun goes down?”
With our all-solar R5, R10 and Super 10 models, the answer is ‘All of our systems are capable of running 24/7, depending on the Amp hours in the battery bank, and the amount of load on the system’. To be sure, a solar system will not run at 100% load all night like a diesel generator (best to have a lot of fuel handy). On the other hand, it won’t smother the party with engine noise, soot and toxic fumes, either.
Simply put there are trade-offs with solar.
The “how long will it run?” arithmetic changes with the PurePowerD Hybrid S10 model, which is our first truly Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS).
We’ve blogged about this earlier, but it bears repeating here: as the Hybrid S10 solar batteries are depleted, our Tier 4 biodiesel generator can be switched on instantly to augment the solar output. (By the way, our Tier 4 generator is sound-dampened to 54 decibels, and using B20 biofuel, emits 93% less particulate matter in the air than diesel fuel, and is therefore far easier on the environment.
