When we talk about mobile solar generators as an alternative to diesel generators, we talk a lot about the Triple Bottom Line.
Diesel Generator alternative
The first bottom line is financial return – if the business model doesn’t work, the rest of the bottom lines will never occur; the social bottom line (jobs, job quality, neighborhood quality, health, etc.) and the environmental bottom line – clean air, clean water, reduced or no effect on the ecosystem, etc.
The first bottom line is an economic imperative, and the third is such a hot topic it needs nothing further from us, but there are far fewer people waving second bottom line’s flag.
Wave this: a partial (!) list of hazardous chemicals associated with diesel exhaust. Now imagine you or your workers, your neighbors – and you – breathing in that stew all day.
And that’s not us waving the flag. That’s the US Department of Labor.
“Reducing emissions from diesel engines is one of the most important air quality challenges facing the country… These emissions are linked to thousands of premature deaths, hundreds of thousands of asthma attacks, millions of lost work days and numerous other health impacts every year.”
Pretty grim.
Solar, and in particular mobile solar generators, contribute no emissions during operations. Nada. Further, if you’ve ever worked on a construction site, movie set, farm, ever gone to an outdoor concert or sporting event – - what’s that sound that drowns out everything else?
The sound of diesel generators. Check out our video – keeping in mind that the only sound you hear, aside from people talking, is the wind.
